Transformers 2 Scribes Hired w/ Payout of Up To $8 Mil
Reported by Eyehut - 01:51 PM 2007.10.10

Source: LA Times

Alex Kurtzman, Roberti Orci, and Ehren Kruger know where their next job will be: "Transformers 2." The deal could potentially land the three screenwriters up to $8 million.

Mr. Kurtzman and Mr. Orci had originally passed on re-commiting themselves for "Transformers 2" writing duties due to J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" on their schedule. The producers of "Transformers" began asking other writers to pitch their ideas for a sequel as early as May. However, no good pitches were coming.

Director Michael Bay has already committed to the project and wanted to keep the duo involved. To do so, the studios proposed hiring a third writer, which is where Mr. Kruger comes in. Mr. Kruger had first worked with the two screenwriters on a picture they co-produced called "Nightlife."
