Stuart Beattie Tapped To Scribe GIJoe Movie
Reported by Jay Cochran - 06:10 PM 2007.08.31
Source: Variety
Riding the wave generated by "Transformers" success, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Hasbro's Brian Goldner will produce a G.I. Joe live-action movie scheduled for release in 2009. Joining the production team along with newly-named director, Stephen Sommers, and business-partner Bob Ducsay will be scribe Stuart Beattie. The studio is looking to start production in February 2008. "Story is set at Brussels-based G.I.J.O.E., an acronym for the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, and revolves around an international co-ed force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil org headed by a double-crossing Scottish arms dealer. Beattie's credits include "Collateral" and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise."

Hey all- Just read on IESB that the Joes will be based out of the US. There is a link to the story on Joebattlelines daily news. Sorry if this was posted already, but this news has me a bit more excited about the movie. |

Collateral was a good movie. That doesn't trump Steven "Van Helsing" Sommers destroying this movie with his abominable directing skills, but it's the first non-crap news I've heard since this whole debacle started. |
