Bay Mad Over HD-DVD Decision, No Transformers 2?
Reported by Eyehut - 09:55 AM 2007.08.21
Source: MichaelBay.com
UPDATE: The orginal post by Michael Bay indicating he would not do a Transformers sequel has been removed from his official website forums. There is now a post from the site admin that says the following: "I spoke to Michael a few minutes ago. He said he just wants people to know that we should be able to view his movies in the format of our choice. Period. Nothing more, nothing less." It is unkown at this time if Mr. Bay still really plans to pull out of "Transformers 2" over the DVD issue. Michael Bay is upset over Paramount Pictures' recent announcement that "Transformers" will only be released on the HD-DVD next-generation format. He states that he wants "people to see my movies in the best formats possible," he writes on his official website forums. "For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats." He is so upset over the news, that he has threatened that he will drop out of the "Transformers" sequel. "No Transformers 2 for me!" says Mr. Bay.

It's funny you don't see people flipping when a movie is only released in Blu-Ray, which is what I believe Sony is doing with Spiderman 3. PLUS my good ole fashioned regular DVD's are fine for me. I don't see to big of a difference between the "new" format. Except to gi... read more |

Yeah I somehow doubt if this has anything to do with people having the right to choose which format they get the movie in. Bay must either have had something worked out with sony or perhaps owns stock or something. I just can't see him having this reaction unless he had some kind of personal... read more |

I couldn't care if he is or isn't directing the next one. I liked it, and if it remains the same I'll be pleased. |

Hmmm, that didn't take long: (from comics2film.com) [b]However, Bay's withdrawal from the mega-million dollar franchise appears to have been short-lived. Bay's comments were excised from the site and replaced with a more innocuous message from his webmaster, Nelson: I spoke to M... read more |
