Leonard Nimoy Talks Fringe, Star Trek & Big Bang Theory
Reported by Jay Cochran - 05:20 AM 2010.03.16
Leonard Nimoy, who has recently been seen as Dr. William Bell on Fox’s Fringe, visited the Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle this past weekend and hosted a lively Q&A panel. When asked about how he was cast in the role, Nimoy candidly answered “J.J. Abrams called me, so I said yes.” Nimoy was very impressed with Abrams work reviving Star Trek and felt in some way that he owed him. And fans of Nimoy’s work will be happy to learn that he flew to Vancouver on Monday to shot scenes for Fringe’s two part season finale. As far as appearing on The Big Bang Theory, Nimoy said that he heard they were interested, and he would consider it, but he has not been asked at this point. He did however confirm that the autographed napkin that appeared on Season 2’s Christmas episode was legitimately signed by him. When prodded about his favorite Star Trek episodes, Nimoy offered up several classic gems; Season 1’s time bending “The City on the Edge of Forever,” and the thought provoking “The Devil in the Dark,” as well as Season 2’s “Amok Time” which is forever know to most as “Spock in Heat” and gave the world “Live long and prosper.” As far as the films, Nimoy said his personal favorites are Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (which he also directed) and the new film in which he portrayed “Spock Prime”.
